monday was a big day for the larsen family:

shane and ivy celebrated their two-year wedding anniversary

ivy started back at her job on capitol hill

and christian found his thumb

professional photo shoot

when christian was just one week old we had some pictures taken of him. he wasn't in the most cooperative mood at the time but there are a few goodies we're excited about. looking over these, i can't believe how much he has already changed! (many thanks to kassandra, who squeezed us in last minute and was more than patient with her fussy subject.)

what a grip

in the middle of a photo shoot the other week, christian zeroed in on the camera strap. check out how focused he is. it took me a while to pry his hands off. the kid has got quite the grip.

burp cloth, anyone?

it appears that christian's best friend these days is his trusty burp cloth. he likes to hold onto it and have it up near his face. i guess it's his security blanket, for the time being. it really does soothe him to have it near.

sometimes he'll even pull it up around him before sleeping. of course, we make sure he's getting enough air (usually he naps on the couch or swing so i can hear him breathing loud and clear) but it sure cracks us up to find him sacked out after tucking himself in.

cuddle time

i just adore the way this little guy curls up into a ball in my arms.

does life get any sweeter?

'up'

we went and saw pixar's "up" in 3-d tuesday night as a family. we were a little nervous at first but christian was a dream. he was impressed by the previews but by the time the actual film began he was nodding off into dreamland. i had to remember to cover his ears a bit when things got loud but other than that, things were good. and the best part: we were able to transfer him from the car straight to his crib at the end of the night.

oh, and yes, the movie was fantastic. maybe it helps to have no idea what it's all about when you walk in there.

nine weeks

i'm sure we'll stop counting christian's lifespan by weeks pretty soon but it works for now. he went in for his two-month check-up today.

here are his stats @ 2 months: 12 lbs., 14 oz. and 23 1/2 in. long

check him out. he's definitely growing up. and fast.

he's loving his hands more and more lately. yahoo for self-soothing.

i just love his expressions. i could sit around for hours just watching him. and i do.

i mentioned christian's "firehose" tendencies to a gal at church on sunday and she told me i had to watch the following commercial because shane and i would definitely relate.



she was right. that's pretty much what happened to me at church last sunday. at least i was in the mothers' waiting room at the time. oh well. that wasn't the first time and i'm sure it won't be the last.
